Polish Phycological Bibliography

In the bibliography there are collected items since 1472 up to the year 1990. It comprises: papers concerning recent and fossil algal flora of Poland (published by Poles and by foreigners); floristic and taxonomic works written by Poles from foreign materials; items concerning biology, physiology, biochemistry, and evolution of algae; reviews of Polish and foreign publications; textbooks and handbooks; biographies and bibliographies of Polish phycologists; information on laboratories. The output of Poles living at the time of Poland's partition (1792-1918), whose works were comprised in some foreign bibliographies, is also taken into consideration. Additionally, the publications of Polish phycologists working abroad are also included.

Each item of the bibliography has a seperate number. The Polish authors are listed with their names in full; at the names of the foreign authors only the initials of their first names are given. Information about the language of the work itself (indicated in capital letters) and of its summary (in small one) is added in brackets; the following letters are used:

The presence of original drawings and photos of algae is then recorded; sometimes other remarks are considered. The items can be selected after the author(s) name(s) or using the "subject index". The bibliography (with the supplements) has been already published (Siemińska 1990, Siemińska, Pajak 1992). To the subsequent years it is completed in the Phycological Department of the W. Szafer Institute of Botany of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Cracow. At the same institution the present database is made.
